Chapter 2
By the time they arrived back at the beach house, Yoseob was both physically and mentally exhausted. Physically because Daeyang was actually much heavier than she appeared to be (he may need to start going to the gym with Gikwang), and mentally because he spent the entire walk back racking his brain for possible answers to the millions of questions he had. He didn’t even know where to begin. But at the moment, his main concern was figuring out how to explain to the other members what he was doing with a random girl on his back. “Ya! Everyone!” he yelled as soon as they walked in the front door, not caring that the other members were still probably sleeping, “I need your help!”

He gently laid Daeyang down on the couch and ran to the kitchen to get some water to clean her cuts with. Doojoon was the first to emerge from his room. “Yang Yoseob!” he yelled, “Who’s she?” He pointed to the girl calmly sitting on the couch and walked over to her.

“I named her Daeyang,” Yoseob said, appearing from the bathroom with ointment in his hand. As the other members come out of their rooms, Yoseob walked over to Daeyang and began to clean her wounds. “I found her unconscious on the beach,” he explained, “She doesn’t remember anything “ even her name.”

The other members gathered around the strange girl and looked at her curiously. “Whoa,” Gikwang whispered, “Her eyes are so beautiful.”

As soon as the rest of the members gathered around Daeyang, Yoseob pulled up a chair and began applying the ointment to her cuts. She flinched as he gently touched her pale skin and he placed a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. “There we go,” he said with a smile, “all done!”

Daeyang smiled. “Thank you,” she said. Everyone besides Yoseob stared at her in wonder as she spoke. There was nothing particularly attractive about her voice “ it was just like everyone else’s. But the fact that she knew how to speak threw them off a bit.

“Uh, Yoseob,” Junhyung suddenly said, pointing to where Daeyang was sitting.

A dark blotch had appeared underneath Daeyang on the couch and Dongwoon pulled Daeyang up as everyone began to examine it. Daeyang toppled into Dongwoon’s arms. He helped her stand up and then looked at the back of her dress. “Hey guys,” Dongwoon said, “I think Daeyang just wet herself.”

One by one, mouths began to drop all over the room as Dongwoon motioned to the back of Daeyang’s dress. Yoseob sighed and grabbed Daeyang’s hand. She stumbled as he dragged her over to the bathroom. “This is where you go to the bathroom,” he instructed, opening the door and gently pushing her inside, “when you have to go, you go in here. Okay?” Daeyang nodded and stood there, blankly staring back at Yoseob. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“I don’t have to go anymore,” Daeyang said innocently. Yoseob sighed and tried to suppress a laugh. To him, this was very entertaining.

He grabbed her hand once more and led her back to the couch where the other members were just getting done cleaning up the mess. “So,” Junhyung said, returning to his seat, “What are we going to do with her?”

“We need to help her remember!” Yoseob declared, looking around at his other members.

Doojoon sighed. “She’s not a puppy, Yoseob, we can’t just keep her. Her family’s probably really worried about where she is right now. We should probably go to the police station and see if they can help us.”

“Can the police help someone who has no memories and no name?” Hyunseung mused from the corner of the room, “I mean, since Yoseob named her, it would be rather hard to find her file. Don’t you think?”

Yoseob held onto Daeyang’s hand and smiled at her reassuringly as the other members debated on what to do with the strange girl. Finally Yoseob figured it out. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do,” he ordered, “Tomorrow we’re taking her to the doctor to see if someone there can help Daeyang and then we’re going to take her to the police station to file a report. Alright?” Everyone stared at the boy. They weren’t used to him taking charge. From the corner of his eye, he saw Dongwoon yawn and he smiled sheepishly at the boy “ he was always so tired. “How about if we all go to bed now? It’s been a busy day,” he suggested. Everyone nodded.

Gikwang was the first to get up from the couch and he walked over to the closet and pulled out a pillow and a blanket. As the group dispersed, he handed the items to Daeyang. “Thank you,” she said with a smile and a slight nod of her head.

“N-N-N-No problem,” Gikwang stuttered. He had no idea why, but it was strangely difficult to talk to her. She was pretty, that he couldn’t deny but it wasn’t love he was feeling towards her. It was almost like… wonderment mixed with fear of some kind.

That night, Yoseob couldn’t sleep. “Hyunseung,” he suddenly whispered through the darkness. He heard a groan in response, “Do you really think the police could help Daeyang remember anything?”

“I don’t know and I don’t care, now go to sleep,” the other boy mumbled.

Yoseob turned in his bed to face the sleeping boy, “Awe, come on, Hyunseung,” Yoseob pleaded with a playful tone, “You got to admit that she’s pretty, right?”

He heard Hyunseung move and he assumed that Hyunseung was now facing him. “Please tell me you’re not already falling for her.”

“No!” Yoseob countered, he could almost hear Hyunseung lift an eyebrow in disbelief, “Okay, maybe.”

Hyunseung chuckled. “Yoseob, you know what happens when you fall in love to fast. Remember what happened last time you met a girl and instantly fell for her?”

Yoseob did remember but the group had decided never to talk about her ever again. “Hey, not fair!” he whined, “How was I supposed to know that she was a Japanese spy?”

“How could you not know? She put video cameras in our bedroom!”

“I thought that was for a variety show!”

Hyunseung sighed and gently rubbed his temples. “You know what,” he said, “forget it. We’ll talk about this in the morning. Just try to get some sleep, okay?”

Yoseob nodded even though he knew that Hyunseung couldn’t see it. Hyunseung was right. He did fall in love too fast. But Daeyang was different, that he knew. There was something special about her that he just couldn’t identify. It wasn’t until three o’clock when he finally closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep, all while remembering what Hyunseung had said at the group meeting: “Can the police help someone who has no memories and no name?”
