Correct spelling, grammar and verb tenses are expected of all stories submitted to Asian Fanfiction. They do not have to be perfect (everyone makes mistakes) but the admin needs to get the impression that you have taken the effort to make sure that your grammar and spelling are to an acceptable standard. The Asian Fanfiction administrator is not a grammar expert. However, she reserves the right to request corrections in submissions with a multitude of grammar and/or spelling errors. If such a request is ignored, the story will be deleted.
Language: Only stories written in English are accepted. If your characters use some Japanese/Korean/Chinese expressions, please provide the translations in the Chapter End Notes.
Format: In order to give our readers a pleasurable experience, AFF does not accept:
- Stories with no spacing between paragraphs. (The text looks cluttered like one giant block of text thus it's difficult to read.)
- Stories with too much spacing between paragraphs. (The text looks choppy and distracting.)
Standard Rule: ONE space between each paragraph. Not two. Not three. One.
Please leave a space between paragraphs and dialogue to make your story more spaced out and nicer to read. In other words, make paragraphs to separate the dialogue from the narrative text.
See an example. Script format in stories (including phone conversations) is not allowed. However, it is allowed in chat conversations and SMS conversations as well.
Length: A chapter isn't a chapter when it's too short. All chapters must be at least 500 words in length except for teasers, drabbles, forewords, prologues and epilogues.
POV: Having only one POV per chapter but switching between chapters is acceptable. Having 2 POVs per chapter is also acceptable as long as the scenes are long. Switching POV back and forth 3-4 times within a chapter is not allowed because it interrupts the flow of the story. 1st and 3rd POV are allowed but 2nd POV isn't. Please stick to either 1st or 3rd POV, not both.
Spelling: Any story that has more than 5 spelling mistakes for every 500 words will be rejected. Spelling mistakes may include a character's name, a country/city's name, or any other commonly misspelled or misused words.
Grammar: Any story that has more than 5 major grammar errors for every 500 words will be rejected. Major errors include, but may not be limited to, capitalization, punctuation, quotations, verb tenses, dialogue formatting, proper and varied sentence structure, and the use of netspeak.
Writing: This type of writing is NOT tolerated in titles, summaries AND chapters.

Netspeaking: "hi how r u?" he asked.
