New layout!
|
Finally, a new layout for Asian Fanfiction! I hope you all like it. I had much fun coding it. ^^ I wanted to make the site look "cleaner" and easier to browse through.
Changes made:
- You'll see this button  on every story (below the title and at the end of the story). Use it if you
wish to share a story with your friends (via email, facebook, twitter,
livejournal, etc.).
- A random story appears at the top right everytime a page is loaded or
refreshed. You can say it's like some sort of free advertising for every
writer on Asian Fanfiction. ;-)
- If you don't like the default color, you may change it. The
Change Site Skin button is in the site info box (right side). If you are a registered member, you can also set the default color in your preferences: Account Info > Edit Preferences > Skin

Online Dictionary

Hi all! I have included an online dictionary! =D
Now on Asian Fanfiction when you double-click any word while reading a fanfic, you will get an instant definition from thefreedictionary.com!
I hope you enjoy this new feature. =)

FANtasia is a new web site maintained by Hanako. It offers story ideas, plots and also story titles for fanfiction writers.

Advertising in reviews is forbbiden
|
Advertising your graphics/reviews web site in reviews is NOT allowed. You may advertise in the tagboard or you may also affiliate with Asian Fanfiction.
Reviews are there to give feedback, nothing more. Any review that advertises a web site will be deleted without prior warning. As a writer, it gets on my nerves when my reviews are spammed by advertisements.
After the third time, I will delete your account.

Submission of Stories

I have added an image that may help new members to submit a story to Asian Fanfiction.
Click on "Quick Helpful Links" above the navigation and select "How do I submit stories?". This will redirect you to the answer written in the F.A.Q.

Deleting stories?
|
So, I have recently noticed that stories on Asian Fanfiction have been deleted by writers... It's like becoming a trend! I have to admit that I'm disappointed. =( It makes me wonder... Is it because people don't review a lot on Asian Fanfiction?
If you appreciate Asian Fanfiction, please spread the word to your friends (highly appreciated!) It's the only way to gain more activity on Asian Fanfiction.

New Server Soon
|
EDIT: If you are reading this message, it means that you are on the new server of Asian Fanfiction!
Finally, I have switched to a new webhost! It took me less time than expected to move everything.
The company I'm currently hosted with has a very slow server. Some pages on Asian Fanfiction take time to load. T_T I've been quite busy this week in finding a new reliable and affordable webhost (note: I'm a student...). Yes, Asian Fanfiction is going to switch to a new server VERY soon! =D
I will soon send an e-mail to all members to confirm the dates of maintenance.

Bug fixed!
|
For those who have their entire story validated (after having submitted two approved chapters), you previously encountered an error similar to this when you updated your story: A fatal MySQL error was encountered.
Query: SELECT PENNAMEFIELD AS penname... (and it goes on)
I've just fixed this bug. You'll not encounter this error again (hopefully). If you ever see another error message similar to this, please report the bug immediately.

Story Types
|
Stories can now be classified by story types: one-short, songfic, poem, drabble, short-short, short story, novella or novel. To classify your story, click on "Edit Story" and choose the story type that describes the best your fanfic.
For those who don't know the difference between these story types, click here.

We would like to thank the people who chose Asian Fanfiction as another option to post and update their stories. Although Asian Fanfiction has been around for a while, not many people have heard of us. There are actually a LOT of silent readers here but few reviews. We understand that reviews are important to writers and hope you can give Asian Fanfiction a chance to get known. Hopefully, the web site will be more active soon (more stories, more readers, more reviews, etc.).
If you are satisfied with our system, you can help us promote by linking Asian Fanfiction on your blog/website or spread the word to your friends.

Important announcement

First off, I would like to apologize for the deletion of some stories. It was necessary because they didn't comply to the current rules. When Asian Fanfiction was launched some months ago, standards weren't the same as now. As said in the Terms of Service, Asian Fanfiction is a moderated archive, meaning that any and all story submissions, including additional chapters to existing stories, will be held in moderation to await the approval of one of our moderators. Your story must respect our rules.
Why is it moderated? Why are there so many rules? Because Asian Fanfiction was created to be an organized archive of good quality stories. I'm not talking about the plot though. After reading quite a lot of fanfics in the past years, I have become SO allergic to bad obvious spelling, grammar & typos, stories in script form with no characterization, etc. That's why I've decided to create an archive of stories that meet a certain standard. I know English is not the native language of everyone (it's not my native language by the way) but there are beta-readers that can help authors. Writers can also use a simple spellchecker (Microsoft Word) which can correct obvious spelling and grammar errors.
Thank you for understanding. I hope I didn't offend anyone.

Size of Poster/Banner

Hi all! ^^
I have changed my mind about the maximum size of the poster/banner you can include in your story (but only in the Story Text field... click here to see what I mean). The maximum size of the poster/banner is now 700x700 pixels instead of 500x500. It must be hosted on an off-site server like Photobucket. Pornographic material is strictly forbidden. Posters/banners that don't comply to the rules will be deleted without prior warning.
